I am attempting to locate a dentist in the community who is willing to assist me in providing some much needed dental treatment for my daughter, Kelley. Kelley is 23 years old who was born with a rare Chromosome disorder known as Partial Trisomy Eighteen. I was divorced soon after learning of Kelleys condition, and was awarded a small amount of child support and medical benefits for Kelley. Due to Kelleys condition the courts have awarded Kelley these benefits for the duration of her life, however her father has not complied with these orders and I continue to seek justice and financial relief for her medical needs. In May of 2006 a bench warrant was finally issued in an attempt to bring the absent father into compliance with several court orders.

Kelley is currently receiving Medicaid and Supplemental Social Security Income of $603.00 per month with an additional $48.00 from Aid to the Disabled. Last week I met with several individuals to discuss Kelleys current medical issues. Kelley currently weighs 86 pounds and has a feeding tube. She enjoys eating, however her bite is bad and she needs a tooth guard because she grinds her teeth frequently. Dental work is required to ensure safety when Kelley is eating, and to prevent choking. This is a major concern since Kelley relies on staff for feeding assistance. Kelley has a seizure disorder and sometimes stores food in her mouth. Realizing the importance of good dental hygiene I have always used Crest and her last dentist appointment three years ago showed no cavities.

As a concerned mother, court appointed guardian, and certified advocate for all individuals with disabilities, I am seeking someone who is willing to do some Pro Bono work, or be willing to bill her father for the expenses. I do have a current address on him in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

We would greatly appreciate any assistance that you and your office may be able to provide us.

Sincerely, Robin Steward

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.
